Wesley Blake Murder, Dothan Alabama Death: Dothan Man Identified In Ongoing Murder Investigation Near DoubleTree Hotel

A murder investigation is underway in Dothan after a man was found dead inside a truck early Friday morning near the DoubleTree Hotel. Authorities say the vehicle was discovered partially submerged in a small water-filled ditch near Ross Clark Circle, close to the CarMax sign, raising immediate concern and prompting a large police response.

Emergency crews arrived on scene after the discovery and confirmed that the man inside the truck was deceased. A wrecker was later used to pull the vehicle from the ditch as officers secured the area. The coroner was seen at the scene, while Dothan police held up sheets to block the view from passing traffic and onlookers, indicating the seriousness of the situation.

Coroner Robert Byrd has identified the victim as Wesley Blake Bowen, 33, a resident of Dothan. Byrd confirmed that Bowen’s next of kin have been notified and that the body will be transported to Montgomery for an autopsy to officially determine the cause of death. At this time, authorities have not released details about how Bowen died.

During the investigation, two individuals were briefly detained near a nearby Bojangles restaurant but were released after questioning. Another person was reportedly detained on Stonewood Drive off Fortner Street, though police have not confirmed the outcome of that interaction.

According to Major Glover of the Dothan Police Department, one person of interest has been detained, but no charges have been filed at this stage. Police emphasized that the case is still active and evolving, and they are continuing to gather evidence and review surveillance footage from the surrounding area.

Investigators are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward. Even small details, such as unusual activity in the area late Thursday night or early Friday morning, could prove important. As the community awaits further updates, many residents have expressed concern and sympathy for Bowen’s family, hoping for answers and justice as the investigation continues.
